La Pourcailhade / Festival of the Pig

From the 10th to the 11th of august (Unconfirmed)

La Pourcailhade (also known as La Fete du Cochon or Festival of the Pig) is a festival held to honour the humble swine held each year in August in the town of Trie-sur-Baïse, in south-western France.. The pig festival boasts some amusing activities and wonderful local produces such as piglet races, all sort of local pork produce, pork sausage-eating contests as well as a competition for the best piggy outfit.

Very popular is the black pudding eating competition, where men force down over a meter of this delicious sausage.

Follow the dazzling and mouth-watering smell of roast and barbecued pork, listen to the music, sing and dance through the event, but the clear highlight is the pig imitation competition "Le Championnat de France du Cri de Cochon" ("French Pig-Squealing Championships"). Contestants squeak and squeal to a specific moment in a pig's life – from feeding to lovemaking up to the slaughterhouse, this event is not only delicious due to its local produce but a truly humorous and hilarious day out.

Organized by the Brotherhood of the pig, has survived up to today because of the village's reputation as one of the largest pig-rearing areas in France.
